V.A.R.A. System

System for the automatic survey of the data of the telephone access network (last mile) through the electric analysis of the signal which it transits on the telephone cable.

The characteristics

The VARA system is developed through the initial realization of a prototype and a trial of about one year in the whole Italian territory. This has allowed to get a perfect system for all the particular functional demands of the MDFs, the cabinets and of Telecom Italia’s technicians.

1) The scanning doesn't create any problem to the all services.

2) Ability to discover all the types of services (spare pair, POTS,  ISDN, ADSL, ADSL over POTS, HDB3, HDSL, X-DSL, MT4, TP, ALF, POTS + ALF, Radio carried throught telephone line, etc.)

3) Need of technicians during only installation.

4) Very speed scanning. About 6 hours to scan a cable (2400 pairs) of MDF with master and e 1h 30’ to scan a cabinet.

5) Easy to transport and least encumbrance (possibility to close the cabinet, least quantity of cables,…).

Description

The system is composed from a Master machine positioned in central office and from a Slave machine positioned in the cabinet, that they connect through of the probes (POD).

Scanning of local loop network

• identification for every line of the service, of the telephone number and of the link in the cabinet,

• automatic survey,

• automatic comparing of this data with db,

• automatic upload of data base (both db2 or oracle),

• possibility to qualify the lines for xdsl services,

• possibility to effect electric measures (tension, frequency, ability, noise, etc).  

Vara system resolves the problem of data inaccuracy, common to all the countries of the world, effecting the automatically uploading of datas from local loop network and abjourning them into the data base.
